Hi people, got a bit of a connection problem, wondered if anyone else has had anything similar..

My 360 connects to my PC fine and will run films and music etc through media centre, but through the system blade on the dashboard it wont find the PC, it says no computers found. I'm pretty sure that everything is shared and setup properly, otherwise the 360 wouldnt connect through Media centre.

When I test the connection it fails on "PC selected".
I'm running windows vista and connecting to a router via an ethernet cable.

If you have Media Center then you can only stream from that.

But if you really want it to find the PC then download TVersity. Your 360 will pick it up :)

Make sure you got through WMP11 (Library - Media Sharing) and connect and share, that way you don't need to go through WMC.

I'd like to be able to play music through the dashboard, and also i've heard it has better functionality that the media centre for films?

so i'd need WMP 11 running on the pc?

yes, then as said above, just confirm sharing to your 360 under library > media sharing within wmp11

Yes get Windows Media Player 11 (or latest version) installed.

Library (drop down arrow) - Media Sharing - Share to xbox360

You may need to download a windows update aswell.

Note: you can only save a playlist if the songs are stored on the x360 hard drive. :(

You need to go into the system blade and disconnect your xbox 360 from the media PC it is paired with before it can use the media blade to connect to a pc using windows media player - I had the same issue until I discovered this. When 360 is "married" to a media PC it stays married unless told otherwise and will not see any other PC in the mean time.

    cheers

Playlists of songs on your PC created in WMP11 are visible on the 360 media blade too.
