I've never been into fps and shooting games but since trying some of the offerings on 360 i'm hooked, just been playin the demos of call of duty (i know i'm late) lost planet etc and i just seem to be getting satisfaction out of blasting one at someones head, online must be good. Anyway out of the current games which is the fps to go for..call of duty? Or something else. Want both good single player and online..anyhelp appreciated.

call of duty is a superb game and i would reccomend it to anyone, but call of duty 3 is only just round the corner, so it may be worth waiting or picking it up on the cheap then trading in later. as for the others, ghost recon is ok but not as good as the island thunder on original xbox( gameplay wise), prey is pretty much quake in different clothes, battlefield is good, but has a very arcadey feel to it, i suppose its what takes your fancy as to whether you like the more of an arcade feel to it, but there are loads to choose from.

yeah, ghost recon tries to be more tactical, but it`s not as good as the xbox originals i dont think. call of duty plays a lot quicker, especially if you dont let people use the sniper, i really do enjoy c o d, but i enjoy ghost as well sometimes. i think you can still get c o d for about 23quid online.

Well COD2 is a first person world war two shooter and Ghost Recon is a third person squad based tactial shooter so they are quite different games.

If you like FPS though I would definitely get COD2 and perhaps Condemned as that is a totally differently experience again but not in a bad way.

COD2 all the way. My favourite game so far on xbox 360. I cant play enough online and offline. Simply a great game. get one from play-asia.com for cheap as its region free.

You wont regret it, it will keep you hooked until COD3 is out in november

CoD2 is the second highest played Xbox 360 game, after Madden 07, this week. Madden is a new release though.

You really have to try Condemned mate! No online but you're seriously missing out on an awesome game if you dont play it.

If you're wondering why it's not in my list of played games it's because I have it for PC.

Prey is superb too, and that's playable on Live.

Again, I have it for PC incase you're wondering why I'm commenting on games it looks like I haven't played.

Not a fan of war games myself but the COD2 stats speak for themselves.

Did you end up getting it or are you just playing the demo?

I love demos. Such a great idea.

Anyway, you probably already know by now: COD2 is the best FPS on 360 right now. Online and offline, it's a great game. Try and play Vet level offline; it's a real challenge but it's worth it.

Try the Condemned demo. Very scary game and possibly the best looking 360 game to date.

You should be able to pick both games up for next to nothing.

The next big FPS IMO is Rainbow Six, due in November. COD3 is coming but it's being made by a different studio, so I'm not convinced it'll improve upon COD2. Prey is already here and it's a solid FPS. Try the demo!

Ghost Recon and Lost Planet aren't FPS games.

actually ghost recon has a first person view so technically is..

For me Call of Duty 2 is a great single player experience, ive just finished the game after about 5 months playing it occasionally the atmosphere is amazing , bullets flying over you head... especally if you hook it up to a 5.1 sound system

another couple of votes for condemened and COD2 from me..

as for COD3, i wouldnt wait just get cod2, after all COD3 will be more expensive, and tbh i cant see there being a huge amount of difference in it graphically or gameplay wise, just more of the same (which is fine if you have finished cod2)

They tend to get a bum rep, but I really enjoyed Quake 4 and Far Cry Instincts Predator.

For single player it's another vote for COD2.:smashin:

Halo 2 is well worth getting if you haven't played it before. Still looks great and is still the most popular live game of the lot. The live element is absolutely superb.

You can now pick up the best ever on line console fps for a mere fiver.

I paid 40 quid and the value for money from that is incredible. Regardless of whether it's last gen or not it still beats every 360 title i've owned for live play by a mile and i've gone through about 10 games now.:smashin:

Edit:- Just saw your sig, ha ha ha, very funny.

It certainly seemed like ss4 or maybe his brother.:D

It's a shame he's gone, I used to go back through his posts and it was hilarious, hardcore gamer!!!!!.:rotfl:

Back on topic, I believe he plays halo 2 a lot as he seems to have the same attitude as most members of Bungies own forums.(elitist pigs).

So get Halo 2 on live and you may meet again.

Though there's obviously a lot of combat in Oblivion, the emphasis is far more on exploration and the development of the story. I think that a person's enjoyment of a game like Oblivion comes down to how willing/able they are to suspend their sense of disbelief. If you really get into the world, environment etc, then it's really a great game.
