    Hi,

I am thinking of buying either Philips 32PF9986 or Sharp LC-32GD1E.
I have them both priced around 1800GBP.

Which one do you find better and why?

I know that both are excellent TVs, and each has its advantages,
but if you had to select one, which one you would go for?

I will be watching mainly DVB Satellite TV connected through SCART-RGB, and
    a bit of analog cable.

    Thanks

For your purposes the Philips would be better, It does a much better job of producing excellent pictures from poor sources. (Sky and analogue)

I have recently plumped for the 9986 over the Sharp after doing a head to head comparison test. The Philips was comfortably superior to the Sharp in nearly every criteria. The only thing the Sharp had over the Philips is better connectivity (nothing particularly significant) and better sound. Just.

They are both very close and it is down to personal preference. I would go with the one that you like the look of, cos you will really not see any difference in picture quality when watching digital TV.
