    Hi

First of all apologies if this has been discussed in previous threads but I have looked on the search facility but cannot find anything:

I have bought a 32LD7200 Hitachi 32" LCD which I am very happy with, however I have noticed whenever watching football there appears to be some faint black lines that go across the screen, I was wondering if anyone else suffers from this as it annoys my wife but I am not that bothered, if its something to do with Sky Signal, will it go when I have my HD Box in May?

    Many Thanks

    Hello

The first thing to check is your scart cable, make sure its a fully screened good quality cable, the lines you see maybe cable interference.

Then, make sure your sky+ box is outputting RGB, look at the picture menu in the setup menu.

There is not much else you can adjust yourself

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

Do you suffer from black lines when watching football, it only seems to be on sport, which is fast moving, however I thought that cos the refresh rate was supposedly high on the LCD it shouldn;t suffer from that

    Hello

Unfortunatly, fast moving sport always looks bad on LCD TV's

Its a combination of the poor quality of "digital" TV broadcasts and the fact that LCD TV's give a very hard/flat looking picture that does not deal very well with fast moving objects.

If your TV has a PC 15 pin D sub connector, you can try using a RGB to VGA converter from JS Technology, that helps improve the picture greatly.

The best 32" picture available is still and old fashioned CRT with and analog broadcast.

    Best regards

    hi

Do you think this may appear a bit better though when Sky HD comes out due to the good qucality signal and clarity?

I have a 2 year old Pana LCD 32" and it is now plagued with feint black lines and patches. I won't be buying LCD again as our Pana Plasma has no such problems. Plasma all the way now.

    Dr Techno....

I couldn't disagree more with your 'sweeping' statement :nono:

From your sig I take it that you work in a TV outlet? If so, I find it amazing that you state such a blatant line to both current and potential LCD owners. Madness:suicide:

I'm not saying that all LCD's handle fast moving images well however there are definitely ones that do!

I own this TV and watch a whole heap of different sports and it delivers them supremely well. If it didn't, I would never have stuck with the panel.:)

Jaspain - I have Sky+ hooked up to my 32LD7200; Is it all football or particular feeds (i.e. Spanish football, Prem Plus, MOTD, Football First)? I use a QED 2110 scart lead between Sky+ and the TV....no issues at all.

Are you connected to Scart RGB (AV2 or AV3)? Is the Sky box configured to output RGB?

    Steve:)

SDB123 I also have this TV and watch alot of football\Rugby, the picture is exceptional. My setup is below. This is a great screen, I think those black line you are having Jaspain is either a fault with the panel or your using a cheap scart cable. Do you use AV2 or AV3 with the SKY box set to RGB in the picture settings? This will give you the best pic with Sky.

I have to agree. The quality when I'm watching football through RGB scart is fantastic! Much better than my old CRT.

Complete tosh. The picture on my 32LD7200 whilst watching sport, whether it be via analogue or Freeview digital is top notch.

As for faint black lines..... nope, none at all. I'd be extremely unhappy if there were any. Sounds like a fault to me or as others have suggested, cabling issues.

    Hi

    Thanks for the responses.

Basically I am using a Monster Gas Filled Scart Cable bought from Comet for about £60 (when i bought TV) and it is very heavy (seperate matter though!)

I am connecting to Sky through the cable via AV2 and I have RGB enabled on my sky box.

It does not matter what kind of football I watch I always get very faint black lines going across the screen when the ball is moving around the pitch.

    Annoys the wife!

    Thanks

    J

    Jason,

    Question time...

Have you tried another scart lead?

Have you tried plugging the scart lead into AV3 (also RGB enabled) to see if there's a difference?

Is the scart lead fully 'pressed in' as a loose connection is all that's needed to throw a spanner in the works!

I would strongly recommend that you try a different scart (for a comparison if nothing else)....from my days as an 'audiophile' I can tell you that expensive leads do not necessarily give the best results.....

I only have a cheap £4 scart lead and its the same

I have tried plugging my scart into AV3 but it does not fit as flush as two as the scart is heavy and the component cables (monster as well) are stopping them from fitting in.

Can everyone confirm that when watching football on this tv that when the picture pans across the pitch you cannot see very faint vertical black lines?

as if this is true and the same happens when I upgrade to Sky HD next month via HDMI, I will be sending the TV back for a replacement.

If all you 32ld7200 owners could check this out for me I would be grateful as this only seems to happen on Football and now the wife has brought it up, its starting to annoy me

    Many Thanks

    J

I watched the footie tonight, fine no probs at all.

It may help if you were to record a game with Sky+...then you can show the TV engineer (should you require one) the exact issue.

BTW - where are you located?

Sorry Jaspain, but I have to agree with the other posters.

I haven't seen any lines or artefacts when watching sport or any other channel.

Picture quality through scart or component (I run SVid from Sky+ through Yam 757 and upconvert to Comp) is top notch, once you've tweaked the picture settings a bit.

Sounds like you have a fault. Strange that it is only with Sky football though. I would try a test to determine root cause.

If possible try to get a dvd recording of some sky football that you know not to have faulty lines etc and play that on your TV and see if you get the same fault.

Basically, try to swap and eliminate items until you can determine whether it is a cable/screen/sky problem

    Hi,

LD7200 owner and no black lines when watching sport either.

Is it your picture settings perhaps? Are they exagerrating a "flaw" in the broadcast? The only screen "bugs" I notice are ones that are really to do with digital tv (I have freeview), not the screen itself.

Erm... no it's not. You said you had black lines; the other post is regarding smearing of the picture. Completely different problems, surely?

Either way, like other posters on this thread, I've got no trouble with the picture at all. No black lines, that's for sure.

FWIW, my picture settings are more or less the same as yours.

Sounds like you have a faulty set, I'd send it back for a replacement.

    Hmmm Plot thickens............

Was messing round with Sky settings and changed contrast to high

Now black lines have faded a bit, however there still appears to be lines when the pitch is panning, have also noticed these on other shows as well.

Have a Engineer coming on Sat to look at TV (had comet ext warranty)

Anyone had any experience of these engineers, they did say it would be a £25 charge if they could not find a fault and I expect him to turn round and say

"its just LCD's in general mate, nothing you can do about it"

WON'T BE HAPPY IF HE DOES!!
