If anyone has the 32fx66 / dav system / sky digital / vhs
could you run me through how you have set it all up - what connections you have used etc...

i was advised by sony to connect it:

sky to dav : SCART to PHONO
sky to vcr : SCART to SCART
vcr to dav : SCART to PHONO
dav to tv : PHONO to SCART
dvd (dav) to tv : S VIDEO to SCART

my local AV shop told me to do it a differnt way (without all the phonos) and i've now got a bit confused! (its been a long week!)

when i try to use the s video to scart for the dav/dvd sytem the picture only shows black and white (it shows colour when i use the lead supplied with the dav)

    any ideas much appreciated!

if your only getting a B&W picture it sounds like you've plugged the cable into a non s-video compatibe scart socket , check the user guide , some will be RGB and some will be s-video at a guess

owner's of this set will be able to tell you for certain if you supply us with the socket number ?

If the vcr is a sony and has smaertlink one of the scarts is enabled with this so you can plug the vcr into this and it will play and record from this one scart socket.
Black and white s video does sound like it is not plugged into an s video socket. I cant remember what scart is svideo although should be in manual. There is a svideo plug socket on side, but i think there is a scart that is enabled as well.

You see i have dvd with an rgb feed going into oneof the rgb enabled scarts.
then i have the ntl box with a rgb enabled feed going into another rgb enabled scart.
the video is just used for playing at moment but i could plug that into either the snmartlink enabled scart or the second scart outpiut of cable box.

are the phonos that you mention for the sound or for a composite video picture as well.

    thanks for that..

the vcr isnt a sony its a real basic philips job...

i must have the scart from the svhs in the wrong slot or something, the picture is perfect, just black & white!

i was mostly confused by being told the the instructions that sony gave me to hook everything up were'nt very good and that i should:

good quality scart from sky to tv
svhs from dav to scart on tv
scart from vhs to scart on dav
then a phono from dav to tv

and this way i would be able to have sky etc all running through my dav speakers...

but this was totally different to the sony instructions which had loads of phono to scarts and scarts to phonos everywhere!!??

and i thought this home cinema stuff was supposed to be easy!:suicide:

just been to the sony web site

    for this model

AV 1 and 2 are RGB compatible

AV3 is S-Video so make sure you connect the cable into this scart socket .

right, hope its as simple as that sounds!

will i then have to enter the set up menus or anything
on the tv to enable the rgb feed or is it all automatic?

just want to finish work now and try it all out!

    thanks...

The telly should auto detect an rgb feed. an you can tell this by three dots appearing inside the green av symbol
