Does anyone know anything about these? Apparently Sharp are manufacturing the LC-32GS10 and LC-32GS20, the difference being the position of the speakers. They're quoted as being full HD, which if the XD1E range is anything to go by, means 1080p.

2000:1 contrast ratio, 460cd/m2, 176 degree viewing angle.

Should have been released in Japan just before Christmas.

I'm sure there's a discussion in here somewhere about the merits of a 1920x1080 resolution 32" screen...

looks great but is it hdmi 1.3? it seems pointless to go for a 1080p display without it with the technology pretty much out there and everything..

That's the one. The same info is on trustedreviews, with a pic of the set with side-mounted speakers.

There was me all set to persuade my wife that we really needed a 37" set - probably the LC-37XD1E - and then Sharp go and do this. If I'm honest, I may be being a tart about the whole 1920x1080 thing and we probably don't need anything larger than a 32" screen. Then again...

Would SD look better from a distance on a physically smaller, true-HD set (when compared to a 37" or larger screen)..? Or would we not be able to tell?

Price is rumoured to be approx US$2400.

All is likely to be revealed at CES 2007 on January 7, 2007, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, when Sharp will be holding a press conference.

Might be a bit in short supply for a while - Sharp estimate manufacturing 5000 GS10s and 4000 GS20s a month to start with.

I've picked this up from Sharp's press release. I don't know enough (either Japanese or technical stuff about panels) to give a good technical translation, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Has anyone heard any rumour of UK release date for this ? I've seen a thread on avs suggesting it'll be out in the US before the end of this month.

I'd be very interested in this set as it could offer the "holy grail" of 1:1 mapping from PC at 50Hz in a 32" set.
