thread moved to disputes to all members involved to post.

contact from buyer saying he finally got around to testing the HD he purchased and it doesn't work.

    Hi

@Boomy can you please expand on the problems you've experienced with the HDD you bought around a month ago?

Hi there, yes, unfortunately the 2TB WD drive simply ticks and isn't recognised. I only just got round to trying it.

Not sure if I have left it too long since purchasing? I have never had an issue with anything fortunately so I assume, as the seller seems a nice chap, it's been banged about in the post.

Ideally this HDD should have been tested within a reasonable timeframe, I'd suggest a few days to a week at most, unless agreed by both parties.

With that said, reporting this after nearly a month isn't really appropriate. Let's see what @Terminator27 thinks first?

Have you contacted the manufacturer to see what the warranty situation is?

Not contacted WD, no. Might be worth a try.

Not a big deal, anyway as I have just purchased another on here so I am happy to chalk this one up and test more quickly next time! :D

I have contacted the buyer and offered a full refund as it is not his fault.

I will take the hit on this one, the drive was fully working before it was posted but sometimes these things happen.

Do you want the drive back so you can test it or return under warranty?

If Boomy can confirm the manufacture date on the drive, it may not have any warranty left, if it has I will get the drive back, if not then I won't.

Either way I'm still willing to refund the full amount.

Hi all just checked it again and she just ticks approx six times and....that's it. Doh!

23 July 2012 is on the label re: date.

Happy to send drive back, or bin it, or whatever. No funny business this end btw, not in my nature, not the way I was raised and all that jazz! I just didn't try it (my fault) but needed it yesterday and *tick* *tick*

If warranty is no use, I am happy to video myself smashing the drive before binning it and then you can send half the refund and keep half as I have no doubt the seller is as innocent as I in all of this.

I'm happy for you to dispose of the drive and I will gladly refund half, that's fine with me.

I dont need a video, I trust you.

Bin it then, Sir? Sorry again for taking so long.

Happy with half a refund, or, due to me leaving it so long, also happy to just put this down as a cock up my end and leave it at that :)

Well, the fact you offered a full refund so quickly was a rather noble gesture, so rather than accept, I will bin it and take the hit this end due to the time taken to test.

You may be wondering why I even bothered to post at all given this is the end result! Having never had to do this before, I just thought it was the correct thing to do at least to find out what the situation was.

Truth be told, time goes by so quickly, I probably thought it had only been sitting here a week tops (must be an old age thing!) ;)

Bin it is! Unless someone else wants it to do something with it!
