Sick deal, we put up the promotion today and theres plenty of movies up there

should check it out at your local blockbuster, we have a wide variety of blu-ray available

so pop on down, each blockbuster had a different range too!

yea I work there too lol but some customer told me about this place when we discussed HD-DVD and BLU-RAY on my gaming end so I thought i'd register and pass on the good message

oh yea thanks to that dude for the advice on this forum as I got loads of HD-DVD on the cheap too :D and now to build the Blu-Ray collection :D

I would goto Blockbuster more often, if it wasn't for the fact that they take disks out of there original cases and put them in a sleeve which is completely unnecessary and only puts dirt on the disk.

I prefer my items to be sealed.

Any examples of prices? Are these new or pre-owned?

    Thanks

Had a look in my local store tonight and they are new (but unsealed and the discs removed from the cases) :suicide: and are £19.99 each so £13.33 each with the offer.

No newer releases and probably all available online for less and sealed.

Why would anyone want to buy a Blu-ray in a sleeve without it's proper case? You might aswell just download it off the interweb and burn it yourself.

You do get the case but the discs are removed, stored behind the counter and placed back in the case when you buy them.

We have to take items out of there cases because of the pikeys

there arent enough dummy sleeves to put out there and all draws are managed so nothing gets scratched and pre-owned is never mixed in with new ever!

its a hard job but we pride ourselfs on it and our labelling system also stops you from selling pre-owned stuff new too so there is no way of cheating the system

when there processed there straight into a sleeve and never get scratched. There brand new goods

It would be nice to have things sealed and out on the shop floor (would make the job easier) but what can we say hey, in a society where theft is major and pikeys do so well within, we have to protect the business some how (yea security tags would work but there not 100% reliable when it comes to theft)

in terms of titles, there are good titles in there and new titles too, AVP and things are on there, just depends on what store you go to, I know at our store we got latest blu-ray releases that retail at £19.99 in there, so it's worth the browse and buy if your interested

I looked in my local Blockbuster over the weekend - The same 3 for 2 titles that you can get online for 2 for £22 of in some places 2 for £20. No thanks.

    It's a hard job cataloguing DVD's between A-Z? LOL

we dont cataglog and to be fair we get a hell of a lot of ass hole customers in the store

we alpha everything even on shelves for you people and you lot dont even have the decentcy to put things back from where you picked it up, instead you mess up hours worth of work with your 2 seconds of browsing

really is no point satisfying customers anymore as they screw up things anyway or always lie about there returns just so they can get there money back

sure I dont know what other blockies have in terms of content on the offer or what the world wide web is providing as Im not really scanning for blu-ray right now but I know at our store we've put the newer titles in there too so people are interested and things could work out cheaper than a transaction from play.com or something

oh well, its all a matter of opinion at the end of the day

With attitudes like this, I'm so glad I order everything off the internet.
And retailers wonder why they are doing so badly:rolleyes:

Don't worry, it won't be too long before Blockbuster goes under and us customers won't be bothering you anymore.

I used to buy a few in Blockbuster. Got a couple of cheap second hand/ex rental a couple of weeks ago. None would play due to hundreds of scratches. Took them back and got a refund. They got put straight back on the shelf.
Also was gonna buy a Blu Ray at the weekend, Hellboy for £12. Its now been put up to £19.99 so it can be put in this deal.

I work in accounting and have deadlines, budgets etc to meet. I go in an hour early every day - never have a lunch or tea break and have the phone or email constantly going with stuff. I never have a minute to myself, but god forbid I put American Pie before Alien.

Nobody said anything about having sealed items on the floor that would lead to a hike in theft!! Theres nothing against BlockBuster having a spare case to put on the shop floor and leaving the other ones sealed.

Is that too much to ask? Yes, yes, it is.

no offence to the original op, but went in to 2 blockbusters today. guess what, nothing new and why do the prices shoot up for these "offers" (spiderman 3, casino royale, monster house etc were all 19.99 each - week before they were 12.99). newest disc was alien v predator.

so 3 for 2 on older discs = 39.98 in total - day before sale was it was £ 1 cheaper for above 3 (casino, spiderman & monster house).

blockbusters are a huge company and i'm sure they have the buying power to make the prices cheaper.

if you treat customers so shabbily by hiking the price before the 3 for 2 offer started and you don't have any new releases, you dont deserve decent customers.

Pretty poor in the Blackpool store TBH, newer stuff was kept seperate and the stuff left could be had on 2 for £18 from dvd.co.uk

Nice idea Blocky, shame about the execution.

They've got AVP, all the Harry Potters, Day After Tomorrow and more at my nearest, so, sounds better than most.

I think you will find this is the same in every store on the high street, they soon get messy after a few customers have been in.

Have you ever been in a clothes shop, dug out your size from the back of the rail then just dumped it on the front not in the correct size order? Have you been in a supermarket, put something in your basket then decided you didn't want it and dumped it on the nearest shelf?

It's all part and parcel of working in retail. :)

Cool was going to pop down in a bit to see if there was anything on its own under £10. I'm guessing probably not, but if someone knows for sure it'll save me the trip. I'm not decided on a film, just whatever catches my eye.

I always avoided buying new dvds from Blockbuster has they were "pre-scratched" in their plastic sleeves but this does not apply to blu ray discs - you have to really want to damage the disc to scratch it thanks to the scratchproof coating. Of course they need to pitch the price right still....

Especially the preowned stuff which they are still selling for about the same as new from online retailers.
