3:2 pulldown option or automatic

    On my panny is it automaticaly set for 3:2 pulldown or must i set it ,and if so how and what would be its benefits.

    Hi,

    I'm sure your manual will give some guidance on this subject. 3:2 (or 2:3) pulldown is used on NTSC film-sourced video to make the 24fps film fit into 30fps video. You will probably see it's effect on horizontal camera pans. Try it turned on or off and see which you prefer.

    If you have a progressive scan DVD that already does 3:2 then leave it off.

    In you have an interlaced DVD player, and are playing NTSC discs then have it on; or NTSC video tape on NTSC compatible VCR.

    If you play PAL interlaced DVD or Sky digital or VCR though screen then 3:2 setting won't effect anything (it's an NTSC only setting).
