    Hi guys, not been around here for what seems like an age! But it's time for long overdue upgrades. My complete system is getting changed and thought I'd start with the important bit first, the BASS!! I already have a XXLS400, how would 2 sound with an antimode in a 16x12ft room vs an svs pb13 Ultra??

    Not a fair comparison. :laugh: Sure dual XXLS400 will have the usual benefits of duals when placed optimally in your room, but PB13U (13,5" 1000w) is a different beast completely! Larger driver, larger cabinet and ported design. As XXLS400 is sealed and more living room friendly compact cube which performance starts dropping after 25hz. SVS digs all the way to 15hz and probably under with brute force. I hope you have dedicated cinema room & nice (deaf) neighbours if thinking about something like this.. ;)

    To give you some idea about the output capabilities via CEA 2010 measurements;

    SVS SB12NSD (this would be XXLS400 but take couple db`s off from these numbers)
    20hz - 91,9db
    25hz - 96,3db
    31,5hz - 101db

    SVS PB13Ultra (20hz mode)
    16hz - 97db / 105db (15hz mode) :eek:

    20hz - 110,6db
    25hz- 113,5db
    31,5hz - 115,5db

    As you can see, the SVS is in different league. Dual BK`s wouldn`t come even close output/extension wise. Of course you might get more even bass in room with dual BK`s and little bit more output, but it won`t dig any deeper.

    I read that SVS is going to introduce some new subwoofer model(s) at the end of this month and it might be new Ultra serie. So keep your eyes open (US pages).

    Another couple great choices you to think about would be PSA V1500 / 15V models if you are looking for ported model. PB13U costs 2000£, PSA 1350£ and similar performance to PB13U, 5year warranty, made in USA. Available in UK.

    And don`t forget the Arendal Subs! These are very popular in UK/Europe these days. Put this on your list too;
    1723 Subwoofer 3

    Lot`s of great choices which i think all can be demoed in UK. Welcome back! :hiya:

    Thanks for an informative reply ;) as soon as i get the extension built in jan/feb i will have my dedicated cinema room.
    With my very limited knowledge you have confirmed what i thought, watched a few videos on the pb13u and they have the kind of performance i want but those 1723's look pretty tasty so i'll have a look into those, so thanks for that.
