I have had sky + since it first came out and I also have a mirror subscription on my old box which is located in our living room. Since the £10 per month has been scrapped I am thinking of buying another Sky + box to replace my old box which I use in the living room for my mirror subscription.

Does anyone know if I can buy the Sky + box from Dixons and just call sky to have my card switched over from my old box to my new Sky + box ? and save £50 installation charge by fixing it up myself ?.

Sorry if this question has been asked before

    John

Yes, once you get your new box up and running you just phone Sky and tell them that you have a new Digi Box and that you would like your new card transfered to the new box.

You will be asked for information in the setup menu like a product number so that the card will work for that Digi Box only.

When you purchase your new sky+ box you also get a new LNB which should have 4 out puts which you will only need 2 outputs per Sky+ Box has this Box requires two runs of cabling from the LNB as you know, for the Extra offerings. :smashin:

Am getting the new Sky+ Box as soon has they come in to stock apparently the new Sky+ Box is smaller.

Am looking forward to Dolby Digital 5.1 from sky :D

Now if MTV would broadcast in DD :D

Yep no problem with that assuming you can get the second SKY+ cheaper than the combined SKY+/install deal that SKY offers:)

Yes, at £199 i liked to think i get something else too, it's only got a harddrive in it, and not much more than a normal settop box. :)

It used to be, the Quad came inside the packaging.
When the price dropped from £300 to £250 ish and the deal was renegotiated with PACE the Quad was removed from the package, it was supplied by the SKY installer and covered by the installation price.
Now some people have said they have bought SKY+ retail and the Quad was included others the exact opposite.
Any doubts it's always worthwhile asking before purchase.

Thanks for that, I was going to buy a new LNB before you mentioned it.

    Cheers
