I am a student ( ;) now that's something you wanted to hear isn't it! ) and i would like to get a projector for our house, however i don't have a lot of money so am thinking of looking second hand. Now it would really only be used for DVDs, some games, and maybe a tiny bit of TV.

Is it at all possible to find something worth bothering with for around £300? Or should i just stick with our old 32" widescreen 100Hz LG TV?

If there is a chance of finding something then what should i look out for?

    Thanks

You may be able to pick up a used Panasonic AE100 or AE200 for £300? An AE200 is now only £650 new! Remember that if you buy a £300 PJ used, you may need a new bulb in a few months that will be another £250 or so (average). If you can, try findin a place that will take £300 cash and the other £350-£400 on 12 month interest free credit (if you can afford to do that)?

Also, try a wanted ad on the Classified section of the forum!

WATCH OUT FOR HIGH BULB HOURS!!!

If you keep your eyes open and your wits about you, that could get you something not too bad.

Well really it wouldn't be used all that much so i doubt i'd need a new bulb to soon... I shall post my ad though :)

Are there any other UK based places that i can look for 2nd hand PJs?

Oh and would it work ok in a 3x3m room? (i'm thinking for when i go home for holidays).

    Thanks

    Hi,

I saw mentioned that the AE100 was available for £650. I've seen the AE200 for £750, is it roughly the same or our their any differences. Also I notice the lumens rating isn't that great, but I realise the ratings aren't to be trusted, is it going to be too much of a problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Henry

There is a big difference between the AE100 and AE200. AE200 has much better contrast/better picture and handy scart input. Well worth the extra 100 quid.

If you was refering to my post, I said that the AE200 was available for £650 not the AE100. Can't remember where though, but I have seen it advertised.

Don't be silly, as soon as your mates find out you've got it, they'll all be round when the pubs close. Not to mention the ladies. But it's still a great idea. What will you use for a screen, just a white wall?

I don't know, it all depends on if i can find a projector soonish... if not then well i won't be needing a white wall will i :) hehe - The screen i won't worry about until i get a projector, unless i should?!

You gotta budget for it, that's all. I've got a couple of used PJ's that could interest you, but might not be what you had in mind. PM me if you want to chat about it, I'll ring you.

Well really i'm just looking into how far my money would go, and whether what i could get would be worth getting... if you see what i mean! It would only really be for movies and maybe some sport but not football ;) (Cricket/Rugby/Motorsport yes... Football no :p).

Would it be possible to have a quick chat on MSN/ICQ ?

I would have PM'd that to you but your to popular and that PM box is full :p
