2910 DVD load problems

Standard Member
I have had my Denon 2910 since March 2005.
Recently I have been experiencing problems with DVD playback.
This appears to be on recently released DVDs(Dark Knight, Genisis- When in Rome).
The DVD will not load, I hear whirring sounds as if the laser is trying to read the disc repeatedly.Older DVDs do not present any problems.

I am very disappointed that having paid nearly £600 for this near top of the range player it should give such problems when it is only just over 4 years old.

It would appear that I only get these when a 2008 DVD is being played.

Some 2008 DVDs load OK eventually (up to 1 minute) but when skipping using the Next button it either takes 10-30 seconds to find the next chapter or refuses to play the next chapter and I have to switch off the unit to open the DVD tray.

I have tried 2007,2006 and earlier Dvds and do not get the problem.

Do you think something has changed in the DVD encoding that isnt compatible with my firmware( which is the latest as I have indicated before)

Have you tried putting in a cleaning disc to clean the laser, worth a try i would think if not already done.
