    Hi Denon 2910 owners!

I downloaded the region-free upgrade and now have ESS 6720-4. Everything seemed fine for a while, then I got the occaisional pause during playback. A few days later the picture froze completely and I couldn't eject the disk. I unplugged and opened the case to see if there was a release mechanism. Couldn't find one so left everything inside untouched. Put it back together and plugged in and the draw opened. OK... one off? No, last night I switched the thing on and couldn't open the tray. I've unplugged and tried everything, but it just won't open.

    Anyone had similar problems?
Does anyone think the upgrade could have caused this?
Does anyone know if I've invalidated the warranty by installing the upgrade?

This wasn't a £30 DVD player from Tescos.... so I'm a little concerned.

    FYI...

There is a DVD stuck in the player.
When I power on the display goes DVD-2910... LOADING.... 0h00m00s
If I press Open I get... OPEN.... (10 sec delay)... CLOSE... LOADING.... 0h00m00s
    "Progressive" is displayed
I tried viewing the Firmware details. This worked fine. Whilst in the Firmware menu I pressed Open and got... ERROR01

    HELP! :lease:

    Yep, there's your warranty gone.

Only kidding, although Denon are in their rights to go down this line, they don't normally do so.

If you do a warranty repair they will just replace the firmware with the original version.

Try turning it on, whilst holding down the eject button. This works on my 2800mk2.

Then if this works, try to reflash the drive.

Well I tried that but it had no effect. Drawer still closed. Thanks for trying. I've called Denon and left a message. Perhaps they'll call back....

Hi Eddy.... I did try the reset, but it didn't help. Actually after much stress I moved the DVD player a few inches and then the drawer opened. It got stuck again a few minutes later, and again, giving the unit a slight jiggle seemed to do the trick. So I now have a usuable player, and a method to get the disk ejected, but I must say that I'm not very impressed as the player cost sooooo much! I think I'll still return it.
