    Hi

    I had a Denon 2800 and a 2800mk2 I had problems with both
(not that you will) I had mine upgraded by my dealer.
But even after the upgrade it was only multi-region but no PAL progressive, which is what I wanted. I've now upgraded to the 3800 and got my firmware upgrade from Jasonjo home page
    http://www.geocities.com/denon3800/ it's a great home page.
I know this doesn't help you with what you want to know but if your looking for PAL progressive scan on your 2800mk2 I've been told by Denon UK that there is no firmware that works, only firmware for multi-region. The 3800 is not without it's problems as I found when I joined this forum a few days ago, but as the guys and girls will tell you if you have the latest built date player it should be fine.

Thanks to both for your info. I just had my 2800mk2 firmware upgraded by my dealer to output PAL prog. It has been doing that without any problems so far, and freezing I was getting with the earlier firmware has now gone.

Will have a closer look at the 3800 site.

    All the best

Dont know - sorry. Sent machine back to be looked at as was having problems with the original pre-December firmware which converted pal to ntsc then progressive.
They replaced this with the new firmware they received before Christmas, but I didn't ask for any details about it.

    check it yourself

    1) Press "PLAY" and "OPEN/CLOSE" while while pressing the power button on (on the machine, not the remote)
    2) Press "MENU" on remote
    3) Player display will show microprocessor version (DVR *-**)
    4) Press "MENU" again
    5) Player display will show software (ESS****) version
    6) Power off and then on before you use the machine again

I've just ordered a 2800 mk2 from my local dealer on the understanding that it would do prog. scan on pal.
checking a review it says it does ntsc prog scan only! quick call to dealer to cancel order resulted in him phoning denon importers and an up-grade disc will be with him on monday, supposedly.
    I await with bated breath!!

    bob5,
If you can afford it spend the extra and get a 3800, you may have read I had a 2800mk2 (not that you will have trouble with yours) But I've seen a difference in performance in Picture and music,
    for the better that is.:)
