I quite enjoyed it - watched it about an hour ago. Sound was a little low in the quiet bits but apart from that a good brit horror flic.
I've also got My little Eye to watch yet- that'll be for tomorrow me thinks.

Scared the bejeebers out of me in the cinema.

Didn't fancy driving through any tunnels for a while.

I'm glad I pre-ordered my copy, I just read in Empire (Australian edition) that the film won't get a theatrical release in Australasia until September !!! Apparently this date is to tie in with the U.S. release

Why are there so many extras missing from the rental version?

To answer my own question - there are no extras missing, it just deosn't list them all on the cover. Plus, there's added extras in the form of trailers for a couple of other movies (The Transporter, Solaris, Daredevil, Bulletproof Monk, Master and Commander).

I saw this at the cinema and loved it. I have to say that watching it again on DVD last night was a little disappointing. For me it had great impact first time but has lost a lot of the shock value. Still a good film though.

I found this film boring and no fun at all, what a waste of 90 minutes!

I thought it started well, but was a bit of a dissapointment once they got to Manchester. they could have done something better with the story.

I also didn't like the picture quality - I know it was filmed on DV camcorders, has digital saturation effects and it's "supposed" to look like that (it was the same in the cinema), but it still looks 'orrble, and for the ending they must have used a "proper" camera because the picture is so much sharper in comparison!

hi all, I watched the movie last night and I must say it was great...though it's no dawn of the dead beater ;-)

I especially love the start where he is wandering around london and it's empty.

Still, the picture quality was pretty poor - especially in the fist half of the movie as commented on a few posts back. I have a projector and a progressive dvd player so I certainly notice the quality of a movie. I guess I just compare all movies these dats to the quality of monsters inc, gladiator or moulin rouge.....

Nobody ever seems to mention how liberally this film borrows from Romero's "...Dead" movies and The Day Of The Triffids.
"The Best British film in years" (to quote numerous soundbites I've read) is just a patchwork of other peoples movies.

to be fair that's all I heard so far, Romero rip-off this and triffids copy that. Only one other mention has been made however, about the rampant product placement in the film! Wonder if that brought in much cash?

One of the main differences is that in Romeros movies, one could escape the zombies by walking briskly away.

    Yup, I remember that one.

To be fair, I did enjoy 28 days later both at the cinema and now on disc. Some of the acting's a bit bad though.

It will be interesting to see how a decent budget and good actors will affect the "Dawn..." remake. Personally I feel using unknowns in these sorts of genre films adds to the overall atmosphere. I read that Diane Lane maybe connected to the new "Dawn..." flick.

Lane:"What's my motivation for this scene ?"
    Director:"Don't get eaten."

i agree about the little known or unknown actors adding to the tension in horror films. it's much better when you're not really sure who's going to make it!

I enjoyed the film as much as in the cinema.
What also impresses me is the quality of the extras.
Danny Boyle has obviously gone the extra mile not only has he added a narration to the alternative ending which is a nice touch and a first for me.
He also narrates on the galleries, deleted scenes and the film!

In total he talks for about 45mins in the extras and then the duration of the film in the commentary.

Thankfully he is interesting thoughout the whole time :smoke:
