I bought a Sharpe GA26GA3E from DigitalDirect the other week, that was £940 including vat and delivery. Top quality. Be quick though because the GA3 is no longer being made. Alternatives are the GA4 (speakers on the side, not below like the GA3), and the GA5 (same as the GA3 but without DVI or component in).

Looking to try and source one at the moment. Following some of the other threads and taking notice of the problems in trying to source th 26GA3e.

Anybody know who has a current stock?

What is the picture quality like compared to other makes out there?

    Is it high def compatible?

    Thanks

This could be complete rubbish, but try searching for '26wl48' . It's not on Toshiba's website but does come up at

    http://audiovisual.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/sbs/100311823/12051749.html

It's reading as more expensive than the 32wl48 which doesn't make sense though.

Maybe it'll come after Christmas? If so my hope is that it'll be as good as the 32wl48, have hdmi, and be <£1150 but I've got no evidence to support this

it doesn't mention hdmi, only vga.

Got my GA4E from TV&Video Direct last week for £902. Wanted the 4E because I wanted to remove the side speakers and have a clean screen. Used a pair of bookshelf Missions instead at some distance for stereo seperation - so good have decided not to bother with surround sound.

I just received my Sharp LC26G3E from www.office-online.co.uk for £916.50 inc VAT.(+£8.99 for delivery)
They delivered next day even at this time of year!

I think i got the last one, but some other stuff on there seems very well priced.

They have a limted range compaired to some shops but...
    example:-

    LC26GA4E £940 inc VAT (£8.99 delivery)

    Olympus C8080WZ 8MP Digital Camera £454.73

Canon EOS 300D Digital Camera with Lens Kit (18-55mm EF-S Lens) £622.75 Inc VAT

As for the Sharp LC26G3E :lesson:

    In a word....Excellent

I had bought the Philips 23PF9946 for £748, but hated it. :thumbsdow
It had low contrast and the viewing angle was low. But the biggest problem was picture noise when using the tuner.
The TV is for the bedroom, meaning i need to feed it from the RF feed from my SKY+ box downstairs.
Although RF isn't ideal, the Philips suffered horrendous picture noise. Switching on "Noise Reduction" helped, but the pictured still looked like it was snowing.
Also, the "audio out" socket was "variable" even though Philips website says it is fixed. This meant i couldn't turn down the volume to use my RF headphones. Muting the sound left a icon on screen!
Anyway, the TV had a fault with the Radio tuner, and was sent back.

I nearly gave up on LCD at this point!

By chance i came across some posts about the Sharp LC26G3E.
A quick look at the Sharp website allowed me to download the manual.
The contrast was double, and the audio out could be fixed or variable.
It had more types of input and looked great.

Once it arrived and setup, i soon realised i had made the right choice.
The same RF feed had very little noise at all, and this could be removed using one of the three N.R settings.
Colour/contrast and viewing angle are all excellent.
The menus and adjustments available are staggering on a set at this price.

But the best feature for me is the variable back light.
During daylight and lights on viewing, this is more than bright enough. With blacks looking truely black.
But as most Plasma and LCD owners know, once the lights go down, the "glow" of the black level appears.
On the Sharp, you can simply turn down the back light to suit.
In fact this can be done automatically (O.P.C) by the set!

The Sharp isn't perfect, (no LCD is!) but it is a very good screen and a good indication of whats to follow...
