20GB hard drive...but only 12GB free!!!

I have the XBox 360 premium. Is it correct that my 20GB hard drive only has 14GB available and from that it appears only 12GB is free for me to use?

Seems a bit of a con?

ooops...just read in the 'sticky' about the hard drive space.

Mines normal. Should have looked there first.
