      Hey!

I am now on my second 2018 Oled and while all the reviews mentions that vertical banding is not noticable in real content I am still seing it in pans over solid color walls in low light scenes, especially on brown, beige and dark blue.

Just finished the first two episodes of Haunting at Hill house and I can see the banding here and there.

How often do you notice the vertical banding?

I would discount anything you see on the Haunting at Hill House, as its very poor picture wise

Ok thx. I will watch some more content and then decide. The thing with this tv is that I havent seen a hint of vertical banding in torture scenes like Marco Polo and Mindhunter but I have seen it in scenes in Haunting at Hill house where I was not expecting to see it. Not even near black just a little low light and panning on a brown wall. Got so suprised the first time I saw it and thought it couldnt be oled vertical banding but it is.

Its no C8 its a Philips 803 but no its very unproffessinally calibrated by me :) No I am basically using default ISF day mode.

The tv has only done 2 comp cycles or so, so maybe it will improve

Definitely vertical banding and not posterisation?

I would get it calibrated before making any comments, as the picture will improve dramatically at that point.

      Its vertical banding

Its not like a calibration will cure vertical banding :)

Just checking, I've seen other people get the two confused. :)

Agreed. I wouldn't do it until the TV has had a couple of hundred hours on it to let the panel settle down, in case it needs to go back or be replaced.

Now you are talking about colour banding right or postarization right? Not vertical banding

Mine is calibrated and no banding, and it made my halo effect/soap opera affect disappear as well.

I only get banding on a dark grey black blank screen just after I turn on the av receiver bluray player, before a film is about to start, got ez952 and sit 6 .5 feet away so would notice any problems or something I don't like.. however it's not in content so doesn't concern me really..

The same thing was said about 7 series LG OLED's, in the regards to not being able to see banding in real world content, it's bullsh*t unfortunately, as shows and films like Haunting and whatever, will always be around, and all OLED's suffer from vertical banding to some degree.

I see it very occasionally in content (65E6) but it's so rare as not to bother me.

I did spot a few occasions of vignetting during Hill House on Netflix but no real banding that I can recall.

I do recall that Arrival and Blair Witch (the more recent, rubbish one) were particularly bad for banding but haven't watched either of them for a long time.

I do genuinely believe the banding improved over time and even on a 5% grey slide it's not as bad as when I first bought it. I've never noticed it on anything like football and it's usually on darker scenes with elevated blacks (as in some HDR shows and discs).

Wow, the amount of money you've laid out on these TV's, and you just seem happy to accept these faults as 'one of those things' for the most part. My four year old, non OLED, LG has no faults whatsoever, guess I hold onto it until it dies with so many current TV's displaying all kinds of faults.
