Please be advised, all buyers and sellers should satisfy themselves that the other party is genuine by providing the following via PM to each other after negotiations are complete and prior to dispatching goods and making payment:
    1) Landline telephone number. Make a call to check out the area code and number are correct too!
    2) Name and address including postcode
    3) Valid e-mail address (no disposable addresses such as @gmail or @yahoo for example).

DO NOT proceed with a deal until you are completely satisfied with all details being correct. It's in your best interest to check out these details yourself.
Also we advise that the vendor post images of the items for sale. This helps your sale by showing the condition of the goods prior to dispatch.

The protection comes from dealing with an established member versus someone who has just joined with no history, its more of a risk for a buyer. It's commonplace on avforums.

Think I'll pass... not saying you're untrustworthy and appreciate everyone has to start somewhere but I do believe as a new member you should be willing to accommodate this in order to build up your own feedback. I think I'll just go spend a few more quid on a new one from a shop rather than risk my money.

Lesley - this is not a huge community, you would have to find someone VERY local for a low priced item like this to be worth collecting and the likelihood of that is very slim.

Virtually every member here either started out by making several purchases to begin with thus building their feedback, or if they sold first they almost certainly posted first.

I would be interested but I am sure you can appreciate there is no way a buyer on these forums would risk sending money to a seller who has no feedback. I know it makes you uneasy sending something without payment first but believe me a good feedback score here is not worth rubbishing by screwing someone over for £50

Does this mean you are now willing to send first and happy to accept my original £50 delivered? Will make payment by bank transfer as soon as I receive item.

Right having read the reply's and weighed up the dealings, I am going to have to say saayinla has secured, the reason for this is that although the sellers terms have indeed changed you withdrew prior to this then there was a 3 hour period between the OP reply and the secondary offer, this in my opinion is more then enough time to reply to the post and exceeds the one hour rule that is in place. This wasn't a black and white decision and is a grey area for moderation. I'm aware people don't live on the forums before I get that reply but you do get notifications via e-mail. So too conclude Saayinla secures due to one hour rule being in effect and no unconditional offer being made as can be seen below in my linked rules #20 and 21.

If a vendor reduces the price for a potential purchaser, that price becomes the new asking price for all. However, the item is reserved for that potential purchaser for 1 hour to accept that offer before others can buy it at the new price. (This is known as 'the one hour rule'.)

The first unconditional offer of the asking price secures the sale unless it's stated otherwise in the listing (e.g. Bulk or Trade Preferred) The vendor cannot accept an offer higher than the asking price.

Okay. I'll accept the decision but I would just like to say that I offered the asking price and only withdrew on the basis that the new member would not send first. In my opinion if the seller then decides that he will send first and therefore meets all of my conditions I should at least be allowed first refusal even if just out of courtesy. I do appreciate it's a difficult situation to decide on and everyone thinks differently. Anyway, enjoy the hard drive and thanks mod for your time.
