2 input aerial cables needed for sky+ install?

hi i'm tryhing to get sky plus in my apartment but was told since i had a communal dish i can't get a second cable to my flat to enable sky+
does anyone know anything about this???
is there any other way around it?

yes, two cables are needed for Sky+ to work correctly.

This is because the box has two independent tuners which allow one channel to be watched whilst recording another, two channels to be recorded at the same time and all of the other various features.

Each tuner needs its own cable and LNB on the dish.

i'm not fussed about having the ability to record 2 programs at once, just recording one will do!

so will the box work if i have only 1 tuner activated?

Not sure about that, there are more knowledgeable people than me about these forums, but I suspect that with only one lead that you cannot use the record function.

It may be though that with the dual channel record now activated that either connection at the rear will allow you to record.

What you certainly won't be able to do is watch one channel and record another.

1 cable you cant record at all mate unless two feeds are connected why not see if the communal people will run a new feed from the multiswitch if at all possible

sounds like i'm screwed
maybe just go for the tivo option
