    Hi Bricky

Read your post this morning and will be looking for a similar system soon myself and by chance saw today that one magazine (can't remember which one but was not what hifif) has done a test on a few 2.1 systems of varying prices although I'm not too sure of their conclusion with the Philips, but might be a place to start. Also Yamaha do a nice system but wasn't in the test.

I'd strongly recommend a listen to the Bose 321 range. It actually works well in surround...

You might want to check out the Yamaha YSP-800, winner of the European Home Theater Innovation award at the recent EISA 2005/2006 Awards.

If your room layout is suitable, this may be a perfect, single-box solution. Sadly, mine isn't. :(

    Currently available online from £468.87.

thanks for alll the advice, my favorite was the new denon s.301 system, but I a have a friend who works for sony and he got me a fanastic deal on the new 40 inch v series bravia and 2.1 DAV-X1 system, so that's the way I'm going.
