My soon to be 93 year old grandfather is still driving around in his 1991 Rover 827si Automatic, or at least he was until last week. He's had the car since new, it still has very low mileage (around 40K I think) & he's far to old to be buying a replacement.

The ignition wouldn't work last week and he's been told by a reliable source that it needs a replacement Inhibitor Switch.

We've tried everything we can find online, phoning around, ebay, etc but can't find either a new or used one. There is one car on ebay being scrapped but the guy hasn't come back to me in a week now.

So anyone got any ideas of how to locate one, new or used? I'm told it's a Honda engine, and the equivilent part would've been on the same 2.7 Honda Legend back in the early 90's, but that's not leading to anything either.

    cheers

Is it actually a switch or an inhibitor relay, if the latter can you get some details/pics of it up and it may be possible to find an equivelant replacement from the likes of Maplin or CPC. It would be a shame to scrap it over a simple switch/relay.

    Hi
It's apparently a switch but I have no idea what it looks like, the car is down in Eastbourne, I'm over 100 miles away

Fabulous engine in that car, especially the earlier versions of it. My old boss had the Vitesse version back then and it went like stink. Fast and free revving with lots of pull. I'm not surprised he's still attached to it if it's in otherwise good shape.
