When are we likely to see affordable ones of this resolution?

For example, what will Panny's version cost when launched?

Do you get the girl in the promotional literature in the deal? Panasonic might launch in Japan in the spring, it too will have an early adopters price tag. As they plan a mere 65 and 50, it may not be quite as high as the LG one. You are paying a bit for the largest actually commercialy produced plasma in the world there. Not much use at that size without hi def. Imagine how crappy the football would look!

Japan will get its 65" 1080p Panasonic plasma on November 1st. It will cost roughly half of what the old 65" 768p model costed. I don't know whether a similar price reduction will be seen in US/Europe, when such a 1080p model is finally released, but here's hope.

The 50" 1080p Panasonic will probably only come in 2007, I think. The Pioneer 50" 1080p Plasma might actually come mid/end 2006 already. Prices are unknown.

The 55" 1080p Hitachi might be worth a look (contrast ratio of 5500:1). End 2006. Price also unknown.

Yeah, it's only the first 72 inches that count.
