Called in at Staples Sheffield today & they are having a clearance. Among the items were boxes of 18" TFT Computer monitors at £250. Couldn't justify one myself but thought I'd share it - can't remember the name.

I bought the 18.1" for a Shuttle XPC and its a real belter for the money. Excellent colour, nice looking and ghosting is absent.

    Very impressed for the money.

Some people say they're not brilliant for gaming as the refresh is only average. But, hey! what do you expect for the money - an 18" tft with a 16ms refresh is gonna set you back about £500!

Give it a try if you're interested - I think I'm right in saying Staples have a 14 day money back guarantee.

I bought the 18" Cybercom last weeks and its a stunning bit of kit for the money - no real ghosting problems and the picture quality is really nice.

Too be honest, even at a 100 quid more, these would STILL be a good deal... :)

Dont worry about the refresh rates, TFT's dont work like a normal CRT monitor. And the native resolution should be taken into consideration becuase you cannot change the resolution without causing serious blurring, because the resolution quoted is the physical number of pixels on the screen.

For example, if you have to play a game at the native resolution of 1280x1024? but your graphics card cant handle it, there would a problem.

I bought one of these two weeks ago for £269.10 (inc. £30 student discount) from Staples. That is cheap even for a 17"!
I think it is an undiscovered bargain overlooked by all the computer mags who still reckon you should spend £400+ even if you want a decent 17 incher!
What planet do they live on!
