Can someone please tell me the differences between these 2 players..
The 1720 is just a progressive scan DVD player so it doesnt have HDMI and it can't upscale. There maybe be other minor differences but essentially this is the main feature the 1920 has over its cheaper sibling. If you go to the Denon website - http://www.denon.co.uk/site/frames_main.php?main=prod&ver=&MID=3&sub=1&action=detail&Pid=231 you can do a product comparison.
Don't understand a lot of the jargon but it seems it's a better beast.
The most important difference is the picture quality, the 1920 is much better.
If you are looking for a player in the 1720 price range make sure you check out the pioneer 575a/585!
I thought the 1720 had pretty poor picture quality - way worse than the Toshiba SD350 I ended up with.
