I have a 4 x 3 TV and have my sources (DVD & Digibox) set to Letterbox mode. I record various bits for my Dad who has just bought a new Widescreen TV. Do I need to adjust my sources to 16 x 9 when recording for my Dad to ensure that he gets a complete image?

If you are taping for you dad’s W/S TV it is better you go to your picture settings in you digi box and set the picture to 16:9. If film or program is then transmitted in anamorphic(usually flagged with a w in the program info) he will get a better picture. Some videos do not record a switching signal for the video to switch the TV to the anamorpic setting, so tell him if it is in this mode or every one will look as though they have lost weight.

    Ruby quartz shades.
