I have 16:3 footage, how would i record this on to tape? Would it show as widescreen footage or 4:3?

Its recording directly off DV player, not TV.

    Do you mean 16:9? .
Depending on your software it will show as either 16:9 or 4:3 on the timeline (how it appears then doesnt actually affect the footage at that time) but the final output will depend on what your template for importing was.
This is because some software allow you to import different aspect ratio but the final export will have to be in one aspect or the other.
If you import to software like Adobe Encore it can also commit the aspect ratio to a final one
How do you get it to tape? Same as export to tape from inside the software ( one of the export options ) as previously discussed.
