Hi All,

After a little advice, what are my options for a 15" sub driver and where is the best place to purchase? This would be a sealed cabinet sized at 19" H x 19" W x 21” D.

Thanks

Tom

Stereo Integrity | HT Subwoofers the si ht 15 is a better then the ssd, but there out of stock and they might/ might not re- stock them....who knows? They have notoriously bad communication!

Is the box already made do you know the internal volume or thickness of the wood?

Amp wise I will stick with another inuke 3000. As this is my second system which is going into an kitchen extension with in ceiling speakers I want to keep the sub price down. Working on the box dimensions above what driver can I get that will sound better than a bk monolith which is my other option? Thanks tom

Carpower Sonic 15 might be worth looking at. I think they are made by Monacor and within budget. Designed for small boxes too from memory.

There was a seller on ebay who used to post videos of them being tested with sine waves etc so its worth contacting him for advice as he knew his stuff when I looked at buying my drivers.

Anyway I am sure some others will chime in too.

So the list I have at the moment is:

Dayton Audio RSS390HO-4 15"
Carpower Sonic 15
AudioBahn AW150T
AudioBahn aw1500v
FI x15

I really don't know which of the above would be the best fit, I am really a newbie at sub building so how do I work out which driver would be best the in the enclosure (90 Litres).

I currently have an Acoustic Elegance AV15 sub in my living room which is amazing, I know I wont get close to that but want to get as close as possible.

Thanks all

Tom

Looking at the manual for the AW150t it seems my box size is within its limits, which is excellent.

As I will be using this with in ceiling speakers I want to raise the crossover to around 120hz (or higher if possible), would I be best filling the box with some kind of stuffing to bring down its internal volume? Or have I miss-understood?

Thanks

Tom

if £200 is your budget then i would look at the carpower in my op it models the best out of all those driver with that box size it will need 800w rms and will hit 104.6db at 20hz( very simular to the ae you have) as for quality im not 100% sure but remeber seeing on the net they where very good.

the dayton and the fi x need bigger boxes in my op, the fi ssd is more money and models nicely but not as niice as the car power.

heres the only one i can find.

the aw150t will work fine, have had one in a 95l cabinet and it sounded awsome and for under a £100 its hard to beat.

but if you want quality to get near the ae then you will need to spend more.

and the diffrence in performance is
the audiobahn in that cab will hit 97db at 20hz compared to the carpower sub at 104db at 20hz,(so 2x audiobahn aw150t will give you 103db at 20hz)

Hi Scott, What is the smallest sized box I can get away with using the car power driver?

Thanks
