Is anyone using LCD for gaming? I am thinking of picking up one due to space (and mrs) issue.

I am using SAMSUNG 570S at work. It is good for office applications but for gaming it plainly sucks. My good old CRT beats the **** out of it anytime of the day.

However, I heard LCD has improved a lot lately and ghosting/ resolution are not problems anymore. Would like to hear comments before shelling out the money. Thanks!

    Hi Allos

I currently use an Iiyama AX3817U/UT and find it great for gaming (FPS gaming) and DVD playback. :smashin:

i use a Samsung SyncMaster 152T and use the DVI input from my ATI 8500 dv and the picture quality is great! to be honest, i can't really see a bad point with it, maybe the directionality of it but thats it really.

Excuse me, but what is DVI input?

I have seen the Samsung 152T, it is thin and sexy :)

So, GrahamC & dts_boy, are you happy with your LCDs? Will you prefer CRT still, for gaming at least?

Digital Video Input, so use this if you can as it cut out the conversion sections and gives a cleaner image.:smashin:

    Hi Graham,

Thanks for the explanation. And I suppose that is not the standard VGA output, right?

That case, I would need a new video card to take advantage of DVI?

correct! The DVI input is usualy a cream colour and about 1/3 longer that the normal blue standard VGA input (colours apply to ATI Radion cards). You also have to make sure that the screen you purchase has a DVI input. Most screens that have a DVI input also have an ordinary VGA input as well so you can use the card you have now and upgrade later.

I used a Hansol H711, available at Komplett for £300 for the 17" TFT.

Analogue input and it was fine.

Excellent choice before you spend higher up the chain.

Can I just tag on the end of your thread. Does anyone have a colour change from the top to bottom of their TFT screen? I've just bought an IM17SM (Samsung) and it has this subtle but noticeable effect. Other people have said this is normal for a TFT but i'v eseen others that don't do it - what's your like?

    Andy.

    I like EIZO's LCDs.
I'm currently using an EIZO L565.
    The colour is like perfect,
every corner of the TFT panel looks the same good,
and its performance on grey level is over the par.
It works fine with game and DVD as well.
The EIZO's 15" LCD series are also very nice.
You may find some information on their website.
    http://www.eizo.co.uk :)

LOL, the missus won again... She likes the look of Sony SDM-51R and took out her credit card.

Well, and I get to pay the bill at the end of the month...

But in any event, the LCD is "satisfactory". Have been using it for about a week and have not found anything regretful about it :)
