    Hi all

I have just Purchased a nearly completed sub from the classifieds from Goujam, the original thread was Thinking of going diy | AVForums

    Purchased thread

    https://www.avforums.com/threads/diy-15-subwoofer-90-complete-including-1600w-pro-amp-driver-and-cables.1964041

I just wanted to start a new tread to show my progression off finishing off this great sub build that Goujam had nearly finished.

I will update you all along the way and I know Goujam is keen to see the finished project so let's hope I do it justice!!

Umm that is the question, I'm still unsure as if I wanted to paint it, it would all need sanding and skimmed and primed. I'm thinking of keeping with your original plan and get it wrapped in black gloss and then it would match my speakers.

I think if you have the time paining will give the better result. But it will take a lot of work filling rubbing down and primer. The wrap will still need some prep work but not so much.

Yes the plan is still gloss black to match my other speakers, what and how were you going to put the speaker cloth on the vents for the amp?

I was going to make some frames using thin bits of wood. I was looking in wickes near me and they sell strips of different shapes of wood. The plan was to get very thin strips and make a slightly smaller than the whole frame then cover with speaker cloth or any other black cloth. I was going to try a push fit but if that didn't work small magnets could be pushed into the frame and small bits on metal on the sub to hold them in place

What kind of rattling is it? It maybe worth taking the top off the amp to check the power supplies I added to slow the fans down are still in position and they haven't moved in transit.

I'll have a look tomorrow, when the sub hits hard you can hear the amp rattling inside!! I'm also going to try and position it in different area of my room as with the anti mode inline it seems to be quieter then before, also this might be an issue with my floor stands over powering the sub

I'm thinking of selling my Yamaha 675 and replacing it with a pioneer mode as I think they have more tuning options built in, any thoughts??

Could it be the amp rattling on the rails have you screwed the amplifier in keeping it right ?

If you mean its quieter with the antimode in line compared to no antimode this maybe that it has removed a peak on one of the frequencies.

I'm not sure with the pioneer I've always had audyssey on my amps my latest has xt32 which works well
