A friend of mine wants one of these for watching TV and video in the bedroom. I've seen one in action before and found that if a DVD player was plugged in via the scart, the Macrovision protection would kick-in because it was being routed through the built-in video recorder.

Would she need one of the "twin tuner" type if she wanted to plug a DVD in at a future date, or was the one I used just a freak? After all...what's the point of putting a scart on them if you can't plug a DVD into it?

I have a sony combi and it plays DVD through the scart no problem but that might be the MR mod of the DVD not the TV, Just buy from a shop that will let you exchange it if it doesn't work.
