    Hi,

I've decided to take the plunge on the Panny 37PE50.

I was dead set on the PV500, however due to the continuing high prices and lack of stock, as well as the fact I'm due to move house next year. I've decided to go with the cheaper 37PE50 and get a 42" High def one next year when there are more models, cheaper and in stock everywhere. The 37PE50 will then go in the bedroom!

121 Electricals have the current cheapest price for this at £1213 + £80 delivery. However doing a search on this forum I can't see any comments on this store on whether they're any good or not. What does worry me is the fact they claim this model has the multi-window which I know it doesent and there are a few threads for 121 Electricals where people have also disputed their claims (e.g. a region freed DVD player which turned out not to be).

Therefore, Can 121 Electricals be trusted? Has anybody purchased a Plasma from them? Would you recommend them?

    Many Thanks
    Rich

on the currys website the 37PE40 is £1,200 delivered,
from what i've read on the forums here, its the same as the 37PE50
but with a silver surround, the PE50 has a black surround.

Digico.co.uk and letsgodigital.co.uk both have it in stock for £1114.80 inc pedestal stand, DMR ES10 and delivery...... I used letsgo and a friend ordered from Digico and we were both happy with the service (actually I think it was £3 cheaper from Digico).....

I used letsgo for my 37" PE50 and they were excellent. £1114 for the PED version and free ES10 recorder.

    Thanks everybody....

The "Lets go digital" and "Digico" ones look unbeatable, especially with a DVD recorder thrown in. Fantastic! Just goes to show you the websites that "search" for the best price are actually not accurate at all sometimes.

I feel chuffed at my decision after 18 months of searching, my situation means I'll be looking for another telly when I move house next year, therefore I think buying this PE50 is a perfect choice just now. I'm hoping that when the HD stuff is more advanced and commonplace I'll can pick up a 42" HD one and have 2 x tellys for the £2500 it would have cost me for the big one just now.

Great - Thanks for all the help and sensible comments in the "very long" last 18 months. At last my sh*tty 21" crt can go in the bin. or get well smashed up!!

    Cheers
    Rich

    Rich,

you might want to think about the cost of a 5 year gurantee, I got John Lewis to price match with www.videokit.co.uk for £1150.00 with a free 5 year guarantee.

Stinkypete (Great name by the way) - I couldnt see the PE50 on the John Lewis website as a I was tempted to go and try and get the 5 year guarantee.

Too late now I suppose anyway - I've ordered this morning from "Lets Go Digital" - first impression was very impressive - nice guy, & apparently it's coming tomorrow morning to Edinburgh - Fantastic! if it does arrive then.

[email protected] - The PE30 was the down rev model from last year. This was the first one I was interested in last year until I heard the newer PE50 and PV500 models were coming out. Apparently it was pretty good, however the new G8 Panny panel is getting great reviews and this is on both the new PE50 and PV500 models. Theres loads of threads in here about the differences - worth doing a wee search.

Personally for me - Paying £1328 for the 37" PE50 + Free DMRES10 (Which looking at reviews for it looks to be very good) - is the best deal at the moment!
