I am considering buying this player...

http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=291&products_id=38538&

But as I am a noob when it comes to this, how can I use this player (which is 120v US) here in the UK with our 240v system? Can anyone point me in the right direction of what equipment I need to be able to use this player?

Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

TIA.

You would need a stepdown transformer. Available at places such as Maplin. Check the wattage the player needs and get a transformer that is slightly higher rated. Ususally for a HD/BD/DVD player a 100w one will suffice. Prolly cost about £15.

When it comes to step-down transformers, I have always used the Tacima range, which despite the name is actually made in the UK (Ilford!) available from:

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_In.../USA_110volt_Convertor_Transformer/index.html

They are rather unusual looking, due to the use of superior toroidal coils, which results in the cylindrical shape.

The 100VA mode would be more than adequate for your needs. Incidentally, these were (informally) recommended to me by Russ Andrews.

Thanks for that. I have bookmarked that page and as you recommended it I will probably go for that one.
Many thanks for this. Much appreciated.
