    Hi,

If you can post pictures of the blue and green you have.

    Pictures with and without flash.

use www.tinypic.com or www.imageshack.com to host your pictures,

    Use the tags for links.

Many of us will have tubes but these days mint tubes are difficult to get, so lets look at the pictures and see if people can supply better than you have........

WELCOME to the CRT FORUM  .

Also will help to know which country and area you are from ???

    Hi Eugene
I'm in the middle of a mass sort out the moment. The warehouse I use to store my stuff just put the rent up so I have made a comitment to go into a slightly smaller unit, which means a whole load of atuff will have to go soon. I'm sure I have tubes for you

The 1208 went through so many changes with the tubes that were used. Can you have a look and give us the part number.

    Hi Eugene
This is a UK based forum and you are more than welcome. but I fear shipping costs and the pound dollar rate will not help.

From what I can see those are the Sony tubes (same as used in BG808s)
These can be tricky to find as they are not rebuildable.

Silly price you got it for

    Roland

    Hi Roland,

Could you just cast you eye over the pictures again...........

two pictures show a lack of the "additional red focus wires" that should be there if SONY tubes..........

So I would guess these should be

PT18-205 or P16LCP Panasonic tubes (aka MEC)

the 180 style tubes were usually in the 1208 or 1208/2 series......

"Great Scot Watson" I think you might be right.
Iris 2 but with the rocker stye remote, and with short controller board cover
but as you say no focus wires.
This might be a 1208s/2 with PT18 tubes

I'm going to guess this was produced in march 1997

All this info should really be available for the public..........

IF its an ex simulator unit then the Green might be a PT18-186 .

The "Short" silver controller cover means 2 things to me.....

1 - It is the new controller - the older type were in the Black case.
2 - The "SHORT" cover only covers the main CPU board. If a PJ is equiped with Lido,Limo,Limo Pro or SEMU the the "longer" cover is used as those boards reside in the CPU cover.

The controller eprom can be upgraded to give IRIS3 .

    I have a 1208s/2 + Iris 2 from June 1997 here - this has the circular left/right/up/down remote controller.

the 1208s/2 was produced up until about july 1998 when it became the 1208s/E - That was a change of the Quadrupler, EHT, Splitter part numbers and the SPLITTER is the only one that can be swopped over without damage.

I still have a couple of the 1208s/E

Roland were the "joystick" style ones earlier ?? What dates, Again info like this is useful and while people know it should be set in stone for the future.......

Do you have dates for the iris versions as well ???

EUGENE - On the rear of your barco right hand side should be a silver sticker with ART number, Chassis type, Model and date .

When you get it post a picture.

Thank you Mad Mr H and Roland for your help.

I am going to post here what it said about the projector from the sellers website, Manufactured: April 1997, ART:NR: R9000896, Ser:NR: 1103788, Oriental TV lens, 6mm 1:2:5, 120/230 volt, 7/5 Amp, 50/60 Hz. Also, to you the IRIS, do I need to buy anything else?

    Thank you

The Iris should work without the need to purchase anything else.

The Iris can be upgraded from version 2 to 3 with a firmware upgrade.

The Iris is a useful item if you are not sure about setup yourself. In time you should be able to set it up better than the auto iris system does.

    Morning,

So the information I posted tells you it is a 1208s/2? If so thats great. My tubes should be MEC correct? Also, do I need to purchase an IRIS to attach to the projector. The price was only $255.00

    Thank you
    Eugene

The ART Number R9000896 suggests that it is a 1208s/2 - as per the Barco Excel spreadsheet.

So fingers crossed thats what you have bought.......

Built from about January 1997 onward (again from the exel sheet)

The IRIS is the little black circle in the lower tray at the front of the machine.......Its a camera that the PJ uses to auto align, You dont need anything extra, its all run from the internal menu.

    Thats an excellent machine.

Look at the 10th and 12th picture in the original advert you can see the black circle below the center (green) tube - THATS the IRIS Camera.

ROLAND - the advert says "Manufactured: April 1997, ART:NR: R9000896, Ser:NR: 1103788" in the original ebay advert. Ill give you a prize if you tell me this weeks winning lottery numbers :D .

    Evening,

The only thing I did not post was the chasis type which is 51. Does this help with the tube type.

There is a label attached to the bell of the tube. With a torch you should be able to see the numbers without having to remove all the metal work around the tubes.

    pt18 205 (r) - Red
    pt18-205 (g) - Green
    pt18-205 (b) - Blue

these or P16LCP type tubes are both Hi Rez tubes

the 180 version of Tube is lower res, they will work but not as small beam size.
