    Is there any way to shorten the throw distance on an 11HT.?
    I ask 'cos I may be changing my AE100 for an 11HT, but the AE100 has a nice short throw distnace and ideally the PJ will only be 8 1/2 ft from the screen. I curently get min width (16:9) of 5 ft but this would go down on the 11HT according to projectorcentrals guide.
    Any input would be appreciated..

    To get the Throw ratio for the Sony;

    Take your Screen size (diagonal inches) and do the following sum;

    (min) (SSx44.22/1.3573)-70.76208}x1.025
    (max) (SSx53.599173/1.3573)-70.17171}x0.975

    You should get a Screen size somewhere between 5 and 6 foot at 8 1/2 foot away!

    Hope this helps!

    thanks for that, but what I;m after is to find out if/how I can shorten the throw distance to get a bigger screen, eg.lens change etc..

    I checked out an 11HT at the weekend and was advised that different lenses are available from the distributor / importer (strange I would have thought they both would be Sony)

    I had the opposit problem to you in that I need to fill an 8ft wide screen from a distance of 17ft and the standard lense will apparently not quite make it. I will check out the equation from gwbailey, thanks for that.

    BTW I really am interested to know why you are looking to move from the Panny to the Sony, I'm in exactly that decision making loop right now AE100 v 11HT.

    beamer..
    I had a Sony CS3, my first projector, and loved it. The only thing it lacked was progressive. I had my sights set on a Sony 10HT as I knew I couldn't really stretch to an 11HT yet. Out of the blue everyone started to shout about the panny, so I went and got one. It was much less than I was expecting to pay and had the one thing I wanted, PS.
    After a couple of weeks with it, I do wish I had waited as aside from PS there seems to be no difference over my last Sony, yet I now have the addition of screendoor (which I didn't have before).
    I just know that the Sony 11HT will do the business for me so it's the route I'll be taking..

    Steve
    Many thanks for the feedback, your reasoning makes sense and I hope the 11HT works out as that is the route I am presently planning on. I wait with baited breath! I hope you get the chance to feed the new Sony with an SVHS source from a digibox. I would really like to know how well the internal scaler of the Sony 11HT handles it.

    I have just been reading about a problem associated with the 11HT doing 2:2 pulldown, apparently it can do 2:3 but not 2:2! I'm a little out of my depth here so does this mean we will have problems with PAL input?
