    Hi,

I'm just buying my first projector, my problem is that I still want to connect up the SCART from my SKY+ to the telly. This means I would have to use the S-video output over a 10m run. Has anyone tried a run this far to a projector, if so what was the quality like?

    Thanks in advance

Yes. I use a 10m SVideo link from my AV amp to my projector for Freeview, SVHS, Laserdisc.

I use a reasonable quality cable (Vivanco, GBP40).

No visible difference to a direct SVideo feed from one of these sources via a 1.5m cable (with the source placed on a stepladder for comparison).

    Cheers for that,

I am looking at the Lindy S-video cable, only £10 for 10m. I always wonder whether others are really worth 3 or 4 times the price?

    Thanks.

Lindy are OK, but really! £10! How much did you pay for your projector and screen, and why are you getting so cheap on it. I'm not suggesting £100, but you do get what you pay for in the main. Try the cable forum for a recommendation from someone with no vested interest, after all I sell and install them, so cannot be put in that bracket.

Surely buying cables in the US is a bit of a waste of effort? Try www.lektropacks.co.uk You'll find them well priced and quick, we use their prolink for custom stuff quite frequently, any length you like, so if 10m is just the nearest you think you'll get, you can re-think.

    Cheers all,

Luckily I've managed to get a 10m length of ex-demo Van Damme s-video cable for £15

    Cheers
