1080p60 on my Kuro - am i a heathen? :O

So I've just had a HUGE ballache with my AMD drivers on my HTPC, which I've finally managed to resolve. The end result is me now solely outputting to 1080p60 which, In my eyes, looks nice and smooth and not 'weird' in any way.

Now, I've got a Kuro KRP-600M which is a sexy beast... but I can't help thinking that I'm somehow committing a huge sin by not using 1080p24... I don't know if it's my setup.. but using 24fps doesn't really look any different... no more cinematic and if anything, maybe a bit choppier?

Reading into 3:2 pulldown has blown my mind a little.. but i'm assuming that something along the road is doing that (be it the panel... or madVR... or whatever).

Should I be happy leaving it 60Hz, or should I sit in the corner and think about what I've done?

Appreciate your input! :D

Why would you want to artificially insert extra frames when they weren't there to begin with? You should watch the movie in the framerate it was recorded IMO and I wish everyone would. Of course it looks choppier because there was never 60 frames to begin with, only 24.

Whether you like it or not, 24 or 23.976 to be precise, IS cinematic.

Can the card not do 24hz? if the card can the tv should detect it and refresh at 24hz instead of 60hz if PureCinema is set to Advanced that is on the Tv, if the card is outputting 60hz and the tv is at 60hz of course its going to look smoother as there refreshing at the same rate.

But that's the thing, it looks smoother if i run at 60Hz, but not in a gross.. smeary "cheapening" way that i've seen on lots of LCDs running at 120Hz and running god knows what other image processing crud in the background. 24fps seems choppier... and I don't know now if it's actually how it SHOULD be.. of if there's something not quite right! This is the result of literally spending hours tinkering with graphics drivers, HDMI drivers, madVR, LAV filters and MPC-HC >.<

Pretty sure my card can do 24fps yeah (AMD Radeon HD 5850). I can't actually remember what the TV is set to.. i recall setting it up according to a decent Kuro guide years ago, and I haven't touched it since. Pretty sure it's set to whatever setting does the LEAST amount of processing etc. I'll have to dig up the guide that I followed!

Why don't you check the stats of the player and see if it's dropping frames?

Anyway, if whatever the content is mastered at then the graphics card will only spit it out at that rate, i.e recorded at 23.976 then it should output it at that.

I'm presuming you mean soft, I have inverse telecine turned off in Nvidia control panel so it does what I said above.
