I usually play my PS3 in my games room on a Samsung 32 R74 using HDMI but this weekend i thought i take it downstairs and force the misses to watch Casino Royal (She doesnt like bond films).

Well i have a LG 42 plasma downstairs but it has no HDMI so i went and bought a Component cable and the picture was smashing but kept cutting out to a black screen saying No Signal

I took the cable back and swapped it for a replacement but it continued to do the same, Very annoying.

I was about to give up when i remembered my brother in law had a HDMI to DVI cable, Well he only lives round the corner so i thought what the hell its worth a try right?

Well imagine my amazement when i plugged it in and changed the display settings in the dash and it said outputing 1080p

You could see immediately the text on the dash was sharp like a PC on a very high resolution and the games look the dogs.

I had no idea my TV could output 1080p especially through DVI, Im a happy bunny :D

yep tell us your model.I m interested too, i m looking for a second set up:thumbsup:

Well its an oldish model i guess and having no HDMI shows that which makes it even more suprising that 1080p is possible, Great TV though SKY HD (component) and Xbox 360 (VGA) look superb.

I wouldnt advise you to buy the TV i have as its old in todays fast moving tech, You would be far better buying a screen like CAS has (I forget what it is) as it has true 1080p and great reviews.

The tv doesnt have a native resolution of 1080 only 768 so i'm quite confused that it is possible to output that signal. 1080i sure but 1080p???
If it shows a good picture who cares. :smashin:
