    Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if there is any hardware and/or software that allows you to output 1080i via the DVI output?

From what I can see, most of the signals outputted are 1080p.

Anyone got an idea? Has the advice I have been given wrong?

    All suggestions are appreciated.

    Many thanks,

Since Powerstrip allows you to select resolution and refresh I wonder if it lets you select interlaced as well, if so then would that not work? After all, interlaced is easy to get using standard resolutions so I guess custom ones could also be done?

Whilst on the subject, any ideas if a DVD drive built into a PC will provide progressive scan throught the DVI?

Well, I can say at least that 1080i via VGA (not DVI) is easily achieved using a Radeon card and Powerstrip (I do this every day). But unfortunately I have no experience of DVI, or what signal formats the standard supports.

MikeTV, So it is possible as such, to watch HDTV on a PC using the DVD drive of a PC, providing that the monitor supports the resolution etc?

Yes, although apart from WMVHD, I don't know of any other HD material available on DVD  ("archived" .ts material aside ;) ).

Not sure what you're getting at here .. normally an MPEG stream from a DVD is deinterlaced by the decoder ised by the player sofware, eg. TheaterTek or WinDVD, or subsequent video processing such as DScaler, thus the output either analog or digital is 'progressive'.
