1080 24p settings/query

Hi, newbie seeking help..

Have a Sony s370, with the DVD 24p setting set to auto, but when I check the TV it says 50hz, on the info, also the DVDs seem to play slightly fast. The TV model is Samsung 40d6100 connected via HDMI cable, with the movie selected in the picture options .

Is there something in the TV settings I need to change or does it set automatically?

The output will only change to 24p when you play back a Blu-ray with 24p content. No DVDs run at 24p.

The 200 Hz processing on TV is used to smooth out the video play back. The effect caused by this may be what is giving you the impression that the video has been sped up?

Have you tried changing this setting to see if it helps? Think the setting is called something along the lines of motion plus or clear motion on this set.

Thanks for that, the set did change to 24p auto with a bluray.. Also changed the motion setting to clear, and it did seem to fix the playback on dvds..
