It wont have anything other than dolby 5.1 as its a Warner release :thumbsdow The only reason I can see for getting it is the remaster of the first movie, but I probably wont bother :)

Its Warners don't expect a DTS track unless the Wachowski brothers push for i ( Morgan Creek are one company who do push for DTS on some titles probably because the director wants it and Warner distributes their titles so it isn't all bad regarding DTS and Warners as True Romance 2 disc directors cut had it because of Morgan Creek pushing for it ) and its interesting that the original news of a longer cut of the second film appears to now be untrue :(

I have only ever seen the first film but will buy this set as i want to see the sequels and make up my own mind if they suck as bad as some people say they do ( the first was great )

This is getting ridiculous... 10 discs? Where will it end?

2 discs of good stuff (Matrix 1 & 2 minus all the waffle) and 8 discs of crap.

I am a Matrix fan, but when I bought Revolutions it was one of those "didn't think much of the movie but needed it to complete the set".

What can you fill 10 discs with?

So far the only DVD's I have really enjoyed the extras on are Star Wars Episodes 1 & 2. I would go back and watch them again. Most other extras are a pile of bobbins.

The box set doesn't look any thing special I wonder if the Reg 1 or Reg3 will be a better box?

I don't think I will be buying this either. It looks like the extended Reloaded is just a version of the original with DVD branching, rather than a properly re-edited extended version. If you haven't got any of the films, it would be a nice item, but I already have all three films, and have only watched the first one in full. I know I squander money on DVDs, but I'd be taking the pi** out of myself if I bought this.

I thought the extra scenes for Reloaded were on the second disc and not on the film disc at all so seamless branching wouldnt seem possible.

As I dont actually own any of the films on DVD this seems like a pretty good buy but if the first film is still cut I will probaley go for the R4 or R1 release.

Well, unless I've misunderstood it (I have a bit of a hangover!), Disc Three is the 'normal' version, and Disc Four is the 'extended' version. Quote from above link:-

Admittedly, it doesn't mention DVD branching, but otherwise, where's the extended version? 138 minutes is the 'normal' running time, isn't it?

There is no extended version of Reloaded the directors said they were happy with it the way it was.

Also the fact that the UK version of The Matrix now comes with a commentary should mean its uncut but anyone can check at the BBFC website www.bbfc.co.uk

I thought it just ment that the 4th disc contained the 'Enter the Matrix' video clips as extra features you could watch and that the total running time of the disc including all the other extras was 176mins?

I'm gonna buy it for the new documentary discs. I enjoyed Matrix Revisited as much as the film and I felt cheated by the lack of extras on the sequel discs.

Shame they don't appear to be one long documentary though!

Red Martin, I felt more cheated by the sequels than the extras!

Personally I would like to see an uncut version of the Matrix with DTS. I already own the sequels and the Animatrix so I can't justify spending more money on something I don't rate very highly.

I might consider re-buying the Matrix if it was re released, assuming it is uncut and at the very worst the sound is completely remastered with Dolby Digital but DTS would guarantee a sale from me.

Its surposed to be an all new Hi Def transfer for the first film, not that there was much wrong with the old one - the Matrix is still in my demo pile. I'm going to wait for the reviews, and if Warner do the decent thing - release the changed disks as a seperate pack - forcing you to buy all 10 disks if you already have all three - and I'm guessing a large percentage of people who would want this set already do.

    Double dipping at its worst.

I agree with your comments Brian although I always felt the soundtrack of the Matrix could have been better. Not to say it's not good because it is a good soundtrack, I think it should be a great soundtrack which it would be if it were DTS!

Looks like they've removed the pic again. I took a screen grab of the order as proof if I get the standard set.
