I've just changed to a 12 month simplicity tariff with o2 with the option to upgrade at any time. Does this mean that i could get charged a hefty premium if i upgrade to the iphone 5 when it's released? My contract was due to expire on the 16th of August and this is why i took this deal in the meantime. Can i still contact their retentions team and get a deal even though i'm on a simplicity tariff?

02 will never do any good deals on the iphone + they have you locked in for 12 months so won't other you anything good

They have added an option to upgrade at any time without any early upgrade charge. I don't know if that makes any difference

I really wonder if that's worth the electronic paper it's written on? I mean, they can allow you to upgrade but at what cost!?!

Just buy the i5 unlocked from Apple and put the SIM in it?

Also, assuming you took out the plan on the 16th then it has only been 5 days. Don't you have 7/14 days to cancel? And finally, why didn't you just go for a 1 month simplicity?

Again couldn't you just put the simplicity SIM in the new iPhone when it arrives? Or am I missing something?

I was wondering the same as this is what i did. After my contract finished i signed up for the £10.50 simplicity plan with £6 500mb data bolt on thats just a rolling monthly contract. Halved my monthly price and have the option to get out easily should i need to or i can buy sim free from Apple and carry on using it.

Problem is if Apple decide to change the size of the SIM card.
I had a few days wait to get my new Micro SIM from O2 after alot of indecision by them whether they were going to supply them to those on unlimited data normal SIMs.
Imhoping it will be easier this time as they will assume most are using a smartphone already.
