£600 to upgrade from Planar3!!

Hi,

I've got a budget of about £600 to upgrade my Turntable (Rega Planar3/Rega Elys). Someone recommended the Clearaudio package (which includes arm and cartridge) and that does indeed look like a good buy. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'd dearly love to go down the Linn/Michell route but the array of arm/cartridge/power supply combinations leaves me baffled!!! plus I think I would need more money...

Cheers,

the clearaudio is a great package for the money, superb arm too.

s/h lp12's can be a good buy if you get a good 'un.

mitchel technodec is also a viable option.

600 buys a lot of tt, even better if s/h. :smashin:

This would be the Emotion TT & comes complete with the Satisfy tonearm and Aurum Classics moving-magnet cartridge and is quite nice. However, I think that £600 puts you in the running for a 2nd hand Michell/Linn/Roksan/Nottingham........., especially if you can use your existing arm and cart. Look at the links at the top of this section for 2nd hand stuff and go cruising something will turn up if you're not in too much of a hurry. Just did a quick look around and found (according to the listing) a mint boxed Gyrodeck for £595, Roksan Xerxes/ XPS1/Rega RB250 for £499, Linn LP12 with Basic arm for £600 (think that's a bit pricey) & another for £450.

Other suggestions for a new TT would be a Nottingham Analogue Horizon (under £550 with arm) Michell Tecnodec (under £600 no arm)
