recieved my pana 37c10 yesterday and have decided i cant bare the poor reflection any longer :(
Have to spend an extra £50 to change it:(
any ideas what tv to buy for around £500 from comet?
Will have it hooked up to sky hd and xde500 dvd player.

If your restricted to buying from Comet then one option is the LG 42PQ6000. Buy LG 42PQ6000 | 42" plasma tv - Televisions | Comet

This is a 42" Plasma, use the voucher code 'MAYTV30' to get £30 off. It will cost £520, or you can try and price match Dixons who have it for £503 with a '3TV' 3% off voucher code currently.

Thanks mate but 42inch would be far to big for my living room.
just looked at the panasonic 32x10b,what do you think of this tv?

They might not have them near you but I have seen one or two Comet stores trying to get rid of the 37PX80 for £500 fairly recently, it might be worth popping down to your local and seeing. The L32X10 is good but I don't think it will give as good a picture as the plasma

The 42PQ6000 actually quite small in form - it looks a lot smaller than other 42" panels so don't dismiss it too lightly.

37“ Panasonic Dimensions W/O Stand (w x h x d) 929 x 596 x 105 mm

42” LG (W/O Stand) (w x h x d ) 1040.8 x 669.2 x 76.8 mm

37” Panasonic Dimensions With Stand (w x h x d ) 929 x 639 x 334 mm

42”LG Dimensions Including Stand (w x h x d ) 1040.8 x 725.8 x 308 mm

I can't believe that Panasonic have actually made a TV that has a very poor screen (reflection) on it! Not the norm for their standards.
Sorry to hear about your troubles mate.

It was done simply to protect sales of the X10.

But not as small as the 42" Panasonic w/o stand 1,029 x 661 x 105 mm

You'd be surprised how big a screen you can fit, and get used to it, and realise that you could have easily gone bigger!

My lounge is only 10ft x 18ft, and I have a 50" plasma against the long wall, so my viewing distance is only about 7ft. Believe me, it does work.

I wouldn't agree, it's entirely personal preference

If thats the reason then why introduce the C10 at all ?

I was on the verge of buying it until I read about it here :), got the X10 now and I am suitably impressed.

To cover the part of the market which demands a big screen for little money no matter what. But then always have a reason to 'upgrade' to the X10. The C10 is only brought out at certain times of the year and it is intended for promotional periods such as bank holidays etc.

Hi all,

Would this be about the best buy 42" Plasma for around £500?

Richer sounds offered me a LG 42PQ30 S.E for £549 but they have the 42PQ60 for £699 so I'm guessing its a better TV? I don't play games and just watch normal TV but a lot of motorsport. I'm new to all this and I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions such as how do I connect to my old amp, and do I need a AV receiver or will an HDMI switch be OK?

Not a great deal of difference between the 42pq30 and 60.. different finishes, the 60 offers better sound quality and media playback via USB stick. the 30 only offers photos and music.

Imho the 30 is a cracking set for the money, however the 60 is only £600 not 699 :)

As above, the picture between the PQ3000 and 6000 is the same, it's just the sound, design and extra features which are better on the 6000 (the design is hardly bad on the 3000!). You can pick up the 42PQ6000 for just over £500 at Dixons though!

If there's lots of bright glare in your room then maybe you could look at an LCD TV but I don't know if you'll get anything decent in LCD for £500. :(
