Does this mean you have speaker already or you need to include an amp and the speakers in your £500 ish budget? Do you also want floorstanding/stand mount or lifestyle speakers??

Hi Dfour I dont have any speakers as yet I have about £800-900 budget in total for av/amp speakers and cables etc, I prefer the look of the floor standing speakers, but dont have much room for floor standing as rears, I will use it 50/50 music and films

any help is greatly appreciated as this is my first purchase of this kind and i`d like to get it right.

    thanks

    OK then

One of the favorite amps for movies and music at the moment. Yamaha AX750
    http://www.electricaldiscountuk.co....50&PHPSESSID=f07649f72312efdec528a81181f10ac2
    New Sony

    Denon 1905

    Speakers.
These Wharfdales are the new kids on the block and include a sub. When you want ot go th 7 speakers you just have to buy a set of frotn floorstanding wharfdale 9 series. The only problem is you need speaker stands and that will bust your budget and you also have no cables.

NO subwoofer and you still need speaker stands as well.

    Alternativly buy the Evo 3's
    http://ws3.pricerunner.hughesdirect.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=ACE-AEGIS-EVO3-DARK
    Get the centre from Superfi
    http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/1280
Also ask them if they can beat the price from Hughes direct;) saying that your going to buyt he centre from them. They did it for me saved £50:smashin:

    Then bi-polar rears either:

    or
    http://www.richersounds.sv01.net/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=301231
Good for movies but not so good for multi-channel music.

You will still have to save some moeny to get a sub eventually even thought he evos have a good bass response they dont go as low as a decent sub.

ok thats great news, thanks you for making this a whole lot easier, I`m gonna go for the Yamaha AX750 wharfedale diamond 9.4 floor standers the wharfdale center you suggested and the rears, and then get a sub in the next few months, all I need to know now is what are great cables to connect it all up. and whats the best place to get a good deal on this.

thank you very much for all your help

Why dont you email Hifi supliers about buying all the kit and ask them what they can do or phone to ask then you do a little bargaining:D

Cable for the fronts either QED silver anniversary
    http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=917
    or the new chord carnival
    http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=3582
And something like this for the rears
    http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=604
    Unless you need something cheaper/flat.
    http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/1932

Also for top quality interconnects (digital coax for dvd to amp and analogue leads for cd/dvd to amp and subwoofer cable) look in the power buys section for a bloke called Mark Grant. He makes his own cables using top quality kit and sells it for  money :D

I hoe you enjoy it all when you get it :smashin:
