Im thinking of buying a dvd recorder but just dont know what type/model to get.
I dont want tospend a fortune on one if i can help it so a cheap and cheefull £100+ jobby would do (less HD of course) as longs as it records off freeview and is easy to use and set up.

But i would consider one with a built in HD and possibly video plus for around £200+
Most of all i want one thats easy to use and one that can transfer hard drive contents to dvd.
I will also be recording off freeview and old analogue sky.
Ive been looking at some in Asda but have read a few iffy reports.
Can anyone reccomend any as im not sure which will be the best bet.

You can get the well regarded Panasonic DMRES10 at empirediect for £170 or Richer Sounds for £180. Preferable to a cheapo one from Asda I'd say.

empire also have a Samsung DVDHR720 with a HD for £214. Don't know what it's like though.

I think that the Asda one is just DVD+R/RW. The Panasonic DMRES10 multi-region modified is £168-48 with free next day delivery from Digital-Point, Birmingham
    http://www.digital-point.co.uk/model.php?ID=1890

The region 2 only model from Ebuyer is £149-67 inc delivery. Advantage of the Panasonic is that you will also have DVD-RAM mode (these discs act similarly to a hard
disk) and can be recorded on over and over again. Facts on DVD-RAM listed on this webpage
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-RAM

No but ive had pms asking me if ive checked this suppllier or that supplier.
Methinks there is a bit of plugging going on
Ive already made a purchase from Richer sounds as they seem to be a good fair priced shop with good back up and are quite local if i need to take it back.
    Many thanks anyway.
I wonder why Richer sounds are not on pricerunner?

We just got a Samsung DVD recorder as a wedding present, the model John Lewis are selling. It's great, i'm well chuffed with it. £170 in store, but have seen it around £140 online

DVR-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, VCD,MP3 etc, etc (can manually edit our adverts easily in VR mode), it also play's DivX straight out of the box! (great when you get 3 discs containing the entire series of Lost UNCUT  )

    Hi,

I just bought the Panasonic DMRES10EBS (multiregion) from rgbdirect for £177.29 delivered on Monday (express delivery) with 3 free DVD-RAM discs

What additional discs should I buy and where should I buy them from?
The guy I spoke to on the phone said theirs where expensive.

    Thanks

I use Datawrite Yellow 8x from SVP which work fine on my E85 but some people on this forum report trouble with 8x discs in their Panasonics and prefer 4x discs. SVP have some Datawrite yellow 4x DVD-R discs in spindles of 50 for £8-39 plus postage.

They also stock DVD-RAM discs should you need any more.
