Let's say I'm decided on the sub (SVS PB1-ISD) and that leaves me with £1500 for a 6.1 setup. My current thinking would be 3 M&K K7s, 2 K4 and a K5 for center rear.

What other speakers would you recommend I consider before hitting it off with the MKs? All they have to do is have great sound and fit the budget - no other special requirments - I don't care about size or looks! Have to be great cinema players primarily but wouldn't mind if they where musical too!

    Your ideas would be appreciated!

Sniper the M&K's would be an excellent choice especially with the SVS sub, superb combination for movies & music :smashin:

If you are interested in second hand and can find someone willing to ship to Malta I would strongly urge you to consider at least three M&K S85 at the front instead of the K7's as they are a class above them.

I have the professional equivalents of the S85 at the front and a pair of K4 at the rear along with the obligatory SVS sub.

I would listen to Ian's bit of advice if I where you (Oh, I did  ). I tried out the K7's and was well impressed with them but the S85's :smashin:

I know it's impossible to do in writing - but what's the differece in sound between the S85 and the K7?

Would anyone know if the inwall S85 would be a match to the normal one?

Have you looked at the K17s as well? They are excellent and (apparently) a step up from the K7s. They are also a fair bit slimmer than the S85 which was a key factor in my decision making process as my room configuration dictated that I had to fix all of the speakers to walls.

I found the S85's to have a more "complete" sound to them compared to the K7's.

It is hard to put it into words but I have found that I hear more of the soundtrack. Take Finding Nemo, the seagulls perched on the masts of the yatchs. Well the wind blowing on the guides (on the masts) makes a really metalic sound now (as it should) opposed to a clink, clink kinda sound.

Ah, someone will be along soon to put it better than I can

They are discontinued which is why I asked whether the second hand route was an option.

I Think the 850's are a step below the S150's might be wrong though

If you're willing to go second-hand, you can get some damn good speakers for £1500! If I sell my Mackie actives it will be for that sort of price.....

heh... thanks for all the offers guys - I do come to London for work quite a bit - lately a lot (7 out of the last 12 weeks I was in London!), but should be slowing down now!

Anyone's got experience with inwalls? The inwall version of the S85 (called SW85) is still manufactured (& much cheaper duh!) - was thinking about the possibility of installing this into some furniture! Would that be a baaaad idea!?
