not one thats "HD ready" at the moment but if you waited till Xmas or just after (6 months) you may get a 37PV500 perhaps a 42 but at the moment its SD only as far as plasmas are concerned

Not trying to gainsay HD for even a moment, but the Samsung PS42S5H is coming in at around this price from a few online vendors.

This is sight unseen at the moment however, whereas the PV500 is almost unavoidable at the moment.

I think the Sammy is worth taking a look at. At around £1570 (on online sites) its not much more than half the price of the 500. But as no one has seen one yet, let alone reviewed one, in the UK, judgement must be reserved. Lets hope the wait has been worthwhile - its apparently coming out in the UK around the 3rd week of June.

Yes worth hanging on for this Samsung. Whilst I don't hold out much hope for it being a Korean panel, it would be foolish to discount it. The crop of HD panels coming out at the moment are proving it's not a one or two horse race anymore.

We can never be quite sure where anything is made any more.

Ya i know but 800 big ones is a lot to most people. And in the states where some people have actually seen this set they are saying this set is comparable to the panny and that the blacks are actually better! Now i agree alot of people promote there own screen, but if its true that the samsung is just even comparable for the price difference and the physical looks of the screen will make this screen a most have for alot of people IMHO anyways.

Now replaced by the 7200 and i was under the impression it could not handle 720p and 1080i @ 50Hz and 60Hz
