I would like some advice on what combination of amp and speakers to go with for the sound section of a home cinema.

I have £1000 to spend, and I would like to buy something with a decent sub - so probably no speaker sets that include subs.

I am happy to bump up the price enough to ensure a decent subwoofer but no more.

    Any help appreciated

How about this amp for £220:-
    http://www.richersounds.com/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=206419
It has all the features like DPII, DD and dts. Has all the connectivety you'll possibly need(inc. six channel input for sacd/dvd-a) and is very well thought of as surround sound amp.Hard to beat in this price range imo.

    Speakers for front l+r £140:-

    centre £74:-

    rears £125:-

    that comes to £560.
The subs worth a look would be the velo vx-10 for £200 or cht-10 for £325.
If you went for the cht-10 that would leave £115 for cables and interconnects.
These are only examples - your best to get a short list of kit and go and have a listen yourself. I've had the Missions in the past (still have most of it as my rear sound stage) and was well impressed in sound quality both musically and for movie sound tracks. A great package for the price.
I'm sure some one else will be along soon to make a few more suggestions.

    good hunting:smashin:
